It isn't too hard to find something to do on a Saturday night in vibrant old Melbourne; if you are in the mood to 'attempt to dance' in a room of hundreds of alcohol and hormone infused clubbers. To be honest, I don't mind the feeling of heavy synthesised bass tickling my feet then coursing its way up my spine, but more often than not, I need my fix of good live music.

Blue Diamond open from 7pm on Saturday is for the beverage connoisseur, the party goers, the casual night owl, dancers, music lovers and even the odd cigar enthusiast. It is a place where veteran cats and the young can come to play, all absorbing the vibes of the best funk/soul bands Melbourne has to offer.

Although called Blue Diamond, the establishment is laced with rich red carpet, a generously long bar (so no crowded 'Sunday market queues'), and the dance floor and stage area leave plenty of room to break off the shackles of the working week. Located on Level 15 of 123 Queen Street, Melbourne, Blue Diamond offers two outside areas where one can even transcend to a 'king pin' like state, looking over the city with a fine cigar in your hand. Plenty of seating inside and out also gives people a chance to relax after having to keep up with the band, or wanting to head bop whilst chatting with some friends.

Definitely one of Melbourne's swankier nightspots, Blue Diamond is also impressive in that it exposes the line between casual and sophisticated, which gives the establishment even greater appeal. Blue Diamond is open from Thursday to Sunday nights with Saturday nights showcasing great live bands. So if you still want an excuse to dress up and let loose, but want to try something a little different, then strut yourself into Blue Diamond.
