My husband and I spent a day at Bribie Island on the weekend and it was a wonderful day. As we were both starving, we decided that our first stop would be Blue Anchorage Cafe Restaurant.
I thought Blue Anchorage was a charming place with a very friendly vibe. We arrived at noon and were pleased to get a table straight away in their outdoor dining area. As it was situated right on the waterfront, this meant that we had magnificent views of the beach and the famous Glasshouse Mountains. We felt as though we were on holidays as we gazed into the distance reminiscing our previous beach getaways.
The menu was quite extensive with many, wonderful offerings for lunch. I quickly decided on the beef and Moreton Bay bug salad while my husband the New Orleans chicken burger. Whilst waiting for our meals, we looked around to see what meals other people had ordered and I must say they all looked pretty damn good (especially the seafood tower). Having said that, we were both extremely hungry. We even had our dessert plans lined up - two big scoops of ice cream from Scoopys next door followed by a McDonald's thick shake on the way home.
Our drinks were quick and we didn't wait long for our meals to come either. My beef and Moreton Bay bug salad was heavenly. The dressing was zesty and a little spicy. The Moreton Bay bugs and beef were flavoursome and cooked to perfection. I would've liked more lettuce and cucumber in the salad, but other than that everything was delicious.
My husband's chicken burger was scrumptious and I especially loved the sauce. I just wished there was more of it.

Overall I had a great time at Blue Anchorage. Staff were really friendly and helpful, the outdoor seating area was cool and shady, and the food was delicious and fresh. Servings were generous, the price was reasonable, and the service was pretty efficient. So if you've decided to spend a day at Bribie Island, drop by the Blue Anchorage because let me assure you, you won't be disappointed.
P.S. We ditched Scoopys ice cream, but got thick shakes on the way home.
