Blu Waters is a fish shop in the Lilydale Marketplace.
They always have a large range of fresh fish, both whole and fillets. Owner Brett ensures that his fish is fresh by visiting the fish market every day.
Most fish are purchased whole and filleted on the premises.
If you wish to fillet your own fish or like to cook them whole, I noticed several small snappers and rainbow trout awaiting your culinary skills.
Whatever your taste in seafood, you will be catered for. Some of the fillets seen were, flat head tails, rockling, snapper, barramundi, blue grenadier, orange roughy, Tasmanian salmon and tuna steaks.
Brett says that flathead, blue grenadier and salmon are the most popular varieties and that Fridays are still the most popular day for fresh fish buyers.
Prawns, oysters and mussels are always available.
House made gourmet pies look appetising, available in seafood chowder, curry scallop and creamy garlic prawn.
Freshly cooked take-away fish and other goodies are always available from the extensive take-away menu. There are tables and chairs nearby to consume your take away.
On hearing that my favourite fish was flake, Brett said that there were three types of shark caught for flake. Gummies were the nicest and that was what he always used. To prove the point he cooked me a piece of flake and chips.
The flake was not the long thin lengths that you get at a fish and chip shop, but a thick fillet would have less batter. It was truly moist and 'flaky.' The chips were crisp and tender.
The fish are a good catch at Blu Waters.
