Fresh from the stage of television show The Voice Generations, Australian singer Amanda "Bloom" Canzurlo will bring her new show to Brisbane, which will feature a selection of songs from Stevie Nicks, Carole King and Linda Ronstadt.



As a member of Jessica Mauboy's team on the popular television show for aspiring singers, Bloom and James Morley showcased their exceptional singing talent and now Brisbane audiences can experience Bloom's music first-hand as she tours with her new themed show.



The show celebrates and interprets the incredible songs of Stevie Nicks (lead singer of Fleetwood Mac), prolific singer-songwriter Carole King and 11 time Grammy Award-winning singer Linda Ronstadt.

I spoke with Bloom who gave an insight into the show and why it means so much to her.

Stevie Nicks, Carole King and Linda Ronstadt are such iconic and strong female performers. What drew you to them personally and artistically?

%%I love how Linda Ronstadt never allowed herself to be pigeonholed into one genre. She sang what she wanted to sing and she uses every part of her vocal range, so it really taught me to open up my voice and gave me confidence to use parts of my voice I haven't always been comfortable with.

Stevie is so mystical. The way she moves on stage, her voice and storytelling is so captivating. She taught me freedom of movement which I love.

Carole King has this beautiful conversational tone. Her writing is brilliant. What she says and how she says it is so relatable. Her voice is raw and authentic and she really taught me to get inside the story of the song.

What has been the best thing about putting the show together and taking it to audiences?

I love my concept shows, They allow me to get creative not only with singing but with creating visuals, telling stories, the order of the songs, the audience sing with me and then after the shows I get to chat to people about what those songs meant to them. These songs are super powerful and the whole show is nostalgic. They make everyone relive their youth.

The songs are so timeless. Do you find that you are attracting an audience from across generations?

Absolutely! We have Mothers and Daughters come to our shows, Grandparents. I just wished we heard more of these songs, so of course, I love performing them as much as I can!

It might be like asking who is your favourite child, but do you have a favourite among the 3 women?

oooo! That's a tough one but I am going to have to say Linda Ronstadt, maybe that is because when I was growing up - and I had a fringe, everyone said I looked like her. You may not know, but Linda can't sing anymore because of her Parkinson's, so with our shows we raise awareness and funds for Australians with Parkinson's and we have raised almost $20,000.
