The Drive is ON! Your BLOOD is NEEDED! Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney Blood Donor Centres are staying open all night, for a chance to save and change more lives. If you can't make it to these main centres that are putting on the food and entertainment, so every Aussie can feel good this World Blood Donor Day - from the donors who give, to the patients whom are being helped; just hop into any blood donor centre closest to you and feel good anyway, that you are changing and saving lives! O-Negative blood donors are especially special, as that is the magic formula! It's the universal blood type that anyone can receive, no matter what their blood type. What that means is, in a dire emergency, when there's no time to test someone's blood type before giving them a life-saving transfusion, good old O comes to the fore and saves lives again! It accounts for a huge portion of required stocks, yet just 9% of the population actually have this precious blood type. Be a superhero and save up to 3 lives with every blood donation. The regular O donors need to be topped up by over four and a half thousand more at least.


It also happens to be National Blood Donor Week (9-15 June 2019), which is a celebration of legendary donors. The ones who show up every single time; all half a million of them. Aussies give generously with over 1.3 million donations last year, but donated blood only lasts 42 days, so the need never stops. Becoming a donor is one of the simplest and easiest way to really help save a life, and feel good in that knowledge. Let's face it, we see so much need and bad news around and we all go tsk tsk; well, here's the chance to get involved, and help in the best way possible.

Not only will you be given more chances to change lives during this Blood Great Friday Drive, you'll also be made a fuss of during this special event. There'll be all sorts of deliciousness like meals by celebrity chefs (who'll be popping in too), to Messina gelato (in a unique flavour), and soon-to-be-famous Donor Kebabs being served up!
