'Blood Sweat and Tears' best describes the process of the last six months, when two business partners, Michelle and Grant, came up with a concept to provide multiple use art spaces, suitably defined as a precinct.

This name, then became the theme for their opening night exhibition on Friday the 9th of November 2012.

View this exhibition at the Art & Design Precinct, located at 10 Bailey Street, West End. This place is now officially open and ready for you to visit. Come along and explore the diverse and interesting range of work that has been put together, while also discovering the stories behind the artist's creations. This first exhibition runs until the 9th of December, 2012.
Some of the featured artists include; Vivian Searle, Darren Trebilco, Sarah Atkins, Jondamarra Cadd (indigenous artist), Gary Kesby (airbrush artist), Glen Brady, Cary Davies, Lucy Adams, Ben Eckersley, Sophie Love, Lynda McCormack, Nicole Seal and Michelle Bowden (%%one of the directors).

%%Art & Design Precinct, is truly the perfect name for this 'space' since it is a place for all types of artists to use, in all types of ways.

Here is a little bit more information about the place and it's founders;

Having the opportunity to meet the two creative business minds behind all this, Michelle and Grant, it is easy to see that they have clearly put a lot of thought into what they are aiming to achieve.

They have amazing ideas for making this a multi purpose place, and in a way, it could be seen partly as a 'provision of spaces' for your opportunities.
As experienced artists themselves, Michelle, a curator, enjoys painting, sculpting and photography, while Grant is an interior designer and will be running his business from within this building. It's easy to see they work well together and are easily able to continuously bounce ideas off each other.

Artists, creative people and/or anyone with desires for learning styles are often in need of a space to either practice, teach or learn in. This Precinct could just be the solution.

Available are 9 studio spaces that can be hired out by negotiating time frames, either in day/s, week/s or month/s. Use these spaces to create art yourself, exhibit, or teach student/s. Each studio space has a separate lockable room.

Already on offer at the 'precinct' are guitar lessons, fortnightly life drawing sessions and come and paint Monday classes. Bookings essential for all classes. %% (Life drawing classes are 6pm - 8pm @ $20 per lesson, please check information for other classes).
There is even a Reiki class planned for the 18th of November ($200 for the full day, bookings essential).

With all the exciting ideas Michelle and Grant have for offers in the future, be sure to keep in touch with them to see what is going on. This place presents well and will continue to evolve with lots of interesting things happening.
Open most days and weekends, however it's always best to check before you arrive. Currently opening Thursdays from 12pm to 9pm. Keep up to date via their Facebook page and check in at their official blog.
A coffee
($2 donation in the 'combi van' tin)%%, and a comfortable couch is available for you to sit on if you would like to pop in to have a chat to either Michelle or Grant.
