Blockumentary at Lohse Street Reserve, Cnr Lohse and Woods streets, Laverton on Thursday 28 September 2017, 6 – 8pm is totally free and part of the Art in Public Places month long event. CLICK HERE for the program of other events and see end of article for timeframes of lineup for this particular event.
Five years ago, the disused building that was the Laverton Post Office was transformed into a vibrant arts space, which changed the face of Woods street. Blockumentary is a short film that documents that change from the viewpoint of locals and takes you into stories and characters that make the community.
Lohse Street Reserve will be transformed into an outdoor cinema for one night only and you can join the filmmakers, the stars and the local community for a very special premier screening, with all the trimmings; entertainment, red carpet for the local Laverton stars, and popcorn. In addition to the film screening, there'll be music performances and a DJ, with local restaurants and cafes open to tempt your tastebuds.
Come early and be part of 'One Hit Wonders', an open mic sessions to strut your stuff for one song (bring your own cheer squad as the winner will be the one with the loudest reaction). Register HERE or on the day. The evenings event will be as follows.
6pm - Music performance
6.30pm - Welcome
6.45pm - One Hit Wonders (Open Mic)
7.20pm - Blockumentary film premiere - MC Ian Pidd
