You could describe the Block Party as a free festival of street art, music and entertainment. The centrepiece of the event will be a 3-part art commission with Australian artist and muralist Loretta Lizzio, bringing to life the stories of three ancient Greek women who broke the mould, contributing to history and myth. She'll be painting live at the Hellenic Museum's forecourt. This is a family-friendly event that encourages communication and discussion with the artist and exploration of the Museum grounds.
In the lead up to the Block Party, take the opportunity to speak to Loretta Lizzio before her public art commission. The artist talk includes entry to the Hellenic Museum along with tea and coffee on the day. Find more details for both events via the links given.
The Block Party is a celebration of perseverance, womanhood and artistic expression and will reconnection the community and welcome visitors back to the city. It'll also feature an array of activities that includes Greek coffee tarot readings, Roman and Mesopotamian games, ceramic painting workshops, and live music in the evening. A plethora of Greek street food and drink will be available to purchase to support the artistic commission.
