When you hear the words "blast from the past", your mind creates the idea that it is something from the past that you liked, yet had forgotten about and has now popped up and given you a surprise.

On Sunday 10th September, 2017 you and the family can step back in time with loads of surprises at the Blast From the Past Festival . The festival is being held along the Toronto Foreshore near Newcastle with festivities commencing at 10.00am and concluding at 3.00pm. Entry to the festival is free.

The first Blast from the Past Festival saw over 5000 people attending and over 100 classic cars on display. This year has just as much excitement brewing with owners of cars and bikes encouraged to enter. There is space for up to 200 cars and bikes so there is no reason to miss out. Entry in the Show 'n Shine display will cost $15.00 per car/bike. More details on how to enter your car or bike can be located on their website or by contacting the Lakeside Marketing organisers.

On again this year is the Pinup competition where ladies, gents and children can dress up in their best "blast from the past" attire. This year's competition has an extended programme to include vintage, retro, mature, couple, family and child sections. Entry prices start at $5.00 for children through to couple and/or family at $15.00. If you want to get an idea of what to wear, there are photographs on their website from last year's entries.

You certainly will not be lost for things to do at the festival this year as non-stop music will have you entertained all day. DJ and The Mr James Band will be playing at the Rotunda on Toronto's foreshore giving all those rock 'n roll dance enthusiasts a good work out in their dancing shoes, while Sydney band Matchbox will be playing at the Toronto Hotel from noon to 5.00pm. There are some great prizes to be won on the day.

With all that dancing you are sure to work up a good appetite. Retro and vintage food vans will be selling blast from the past hot dogs, pluto pups, snow cones, hot chips and the like. If you would like to be a stallholder on the day, you can make application through the website giving a description of your business. There will also be plenty of memorabilia, homewares and era clothing to purchase.

Toronto , named after the Canadian city of the same name, is located approximately twenty-eight kilometres from Newcastle. It was originally the site of an Aboriginal mission called Ebenezer but now enjoys its lakeside location within the City of Lake Macquarie.

This glorious backdrop of the serene Lake Macquarie will make a perfect venue for this festival and if the comments from last year's event are anything to go on, you will not be disappointed at the 2017 Blast from the Past Festival. If you require any further information, please contact either Brenda or Jess on email - [email protected] or telephone 02 4950 4799.
