It's probably the last thing you'd expect to see down Blackwood's Main Road on a Friday night - a donkey carrying a girl and three massive camels! Well, be prepared, as it's about to happen again on Friday 6th December 2013.

As the Christmas festivities draw near, Blackwood's combined local churches are currently preparing for the Parade.
"We love setting the Christmas scene for the parade", said Blackwood High CPSW Sam Thomson who overseas the Nativity float at the parade each year.

"It's not quite the Adelaide Christmas Pageant but it's a great community event nonetheless, and I'm constantly impressed by the thousands of people who participate and come and watch."

For the last decade or so all the local churches have worked together to present the Christmas story float. "We go to a lot of effort and expense to tell the Christmas story, complete with animals," said Sam. "We have Mary on a donkey, three Magi on camels, and of course the eye-catching angel Gabriel towering above on a star."

The nativity sets the scene early for the Parade, as other local businesses, schools and clubs follow with imaginative floats, interspersed with a variety of bands.

If you can't make the Adelaide Christmas Pageant, put Friday December 6th in your diary. The Parade starts at around 6pm at Gulfview Road and heads towards Young Street.

There are also food stalls and other entertainments at Waite Street reserve making it a great evening for all the family.
