I am always looking out for new experiences, wherever I may find myself.
A PAWsome day out
An initiative of Blacktown Animal Holding Facility, the Blacktown Pet Festival will be held on Sunday October 13, from 10am to 2pm, at the Blacktown Showground. The festival aims to celebrate all kinds of pets—furry, scaly, feathered, you name it—and has activities for both pets and the owners who love them.
A highlight of the day will be the Pet Fashion Parade, which is open to all pets. Registration will be at the Blacktown Animal Holding Facility stall and preliminary judging will take place there at noon, before the finals at 12.30pm in the Main Arena.
Loads of free kids activities will be on offer, including a jumping castle, an animal farm, face-painting and plaster-painting. Events and activities for the whole family include the Australian wildlife display, the sheep shearing demonstrations and a chance to try your hand at milking a cow.
Pet owners may want to take advantage of the festival's free vet checks and free microchipping, while there will also be a mobile dog wash onsite. Prospective owners can explore their options at the Animal Holding Facility animal adoption stall.
