Take Your Tastebuds On A Trip
Every Friday night until Christmas, the Blacktown's Village Green will be transformed into a hotspot of International cuisine. From 4pm until 10pm, families gather in the forecourt of Westpoint and near the Council Chambers in order to sample tasty treats from different countries at the Blacktown Night Markets.
A variety of cuisines are represented such as American BBQ, Spanish, Turkish, Argentinian, Thai, Mediterranean and Tongan as well as fruit juice stalls, doughnut, popcorn and coffee carts. Most of the items cost between $10 and $15 and there was something there to suit even the fussiest eater.
It was fun walking past the various stalls and food trucks to decide on meal choices. We started with Argentinian Empanadas which had a very light pastry and a delicious filling that was complemented by chimichurri sauce. Chinese dumplings and Filipino barbecue pork followed. There are many dessert stalls, but we were too full to indulge ourselves.
There is plenty of seating provided on an upper level near the Council Chambers and entertainment is provided by a DJ and roving musicians. Sugar cane juice and twisty chips on a stick were popular items on the night we were there.
