Horseshoe Lookout – Blackdown Tableland National Park
If you visited Blackdown Tableland National Park, a stop at Horseshoe Lookout is a must. The road heading to this lookout is all bitumen and can be accessed even with a 2WD vehicle. It took about 30 minutes to reach the lookout from the turn-off to Charlevue Road, between Bluff and Dingo, from Capricorn Highway which will lead you to Blackdown Tableland National Park.
There is a clear sign that will lead you to Horseshoe Lookout. Before heading down to the lookout, we stopped at the signboard. This board will tell you a bit about the National Park, and how the tableland form and remind visitors to respect this area that belongs to the Ghungalu.
The path from the parking spot to the lookout was all paved and only took 2 minutes to walk. The path was surrounded by big gum trees and you could smell it as you walked. Cicadas would accompany your walk to the lookout. A semicircular platform with 2 long benches can be seen at the lookout as well as a signboard that tells you more about how the Blackdown Tableland form. You can see the flat top of the mountain and also the surrounding areas. It's a breathtaking view.
There is an amenities block near the lookout with ample parking spots. I saw some people un-hook their camping trailers and park before continuing their journey around the National Park.
