The coveted Black Swan Prize has grown in prominence to be the ultimate achievement of Perth's artistic community. It also draws talented artists from all around Australia. In its 8th year, you can expect to see an extraordinary range of some of the finest pieces of art in the areas of Portraiture and Heritage. You will also be invited to vote in the People's Choice Prize which will determine the $7500 winner for Portraiture and the $2000 winner for Heritage. You yourself will gain the opportunity to win a $200 gift voucher from the Fig Café.
This year is actually a 'first' for the $7500 People's Choice Prize and gives you the public a say via your vote online for your favourite artwork. The $50,000 Lester Group Prize for Portraiture and the $20,000 Etihad Airways Heritage Prize up for grabs, there's excitement aplenty. The best exhibition nationwide with more entrants and the biggest prize pool on offer, there's a burgeoning sense of pride from the West Australian community hosting this national event created and showcased right here in WA.

This empowers school students and young patients at Princess Margaret Hospital between the ages of 12 to 19 and gets their art outside the school and hospital environment. It also helps identify up and coming artists and gives them the confidence to have faith in their development in the art world. The exhibition began on the 9th of October and will go through to the 19th of October 2014. Entry is free at the two venues in the vibrant Heritage precinct. Forty artworks by Australia's finest portrait artists will be on display at Linton and Kay Galleries, 137 St Georges Terrace, Perth. Twenty nine artworks depicting aspects of the Heritage of Perth will be on display at Brookfield Place, Brookfield Tower, 125 St Georges Terrace, Perth. The exhibition will be open daily from 10am to 5pm and from 11am to 4pm on Sundays for your viewing and voting pleasure.
