If you haven't had the strawberry watermelon cake at Black Star pastry, you are missing out on one of life's great gifts. This outstanding cake has become their signature cake since its introduction and will continue to be every party's envy. The beautifully layered cake garnished with dried rose petals has been an Instagram sensation and has done its rounds over the years. The beautiful bright red of the strawberries, pink of the dried rose petals and green pistachios throw colour bursts into the frame of every camera.
Available at Black Star Pastry in 4 location, this cake is distinctly present in numerous quantities at their bakeries owing to their popularity and the speed with which they get sold out. The cakes come in many sizes, however, large sizes need to be pre-ordered & may not be available for instant take away. The smaller sizes, however, can be bought across the counter provided they are not sold out.
Strawberry and Watermelon Cake at Black Star Pastry
So what exactly is the strawberry watermelon cake made of? This beautifully light and fresh cake consists of 2 layers of almond dacquoise, rose scented cream, strawberry and watermelon and garnishes with dried rose petals and pistachios. It looks as pretty as a picture, smells fragrant and tastes wonderful.

If you do want to try your hand at the cake, there is a recipe here, however, I cannot help but just be drawn to the bakery every now and again for a taste of their signature cake.
