is a show your unlikely to forget anytime soon. First a word on where you would see it, for the venue itself is entirely memorable.
The Butterfly Club is one of those institutions you become very much convinced you could only find in Melbourne. Set down Carson Place Lane (just off Little Collins St) it is a institution that is largely assuming from the outside - and yet like so many
other great bars in Melbourne - very much an experience in sensory overload once inside.
Across mutiple levels and rooms, alongside being a theatre The Butterfly Club offers a fully-fledged bar. This to say, those coming along for a show here are sure to be in for a real treat right off the bat; and then there's the actual show to see.
With this it can be said Jeremiah's Tuesday is a piece that is minimalist - in essence just the man and his binoculars on the stage - and yet deeply challenging. The emotive tale of a shipwrecked soul on a desert island, it is a piece reminiscent of Tom Hank's sterling role as Chuck Nolan within Castaway.
Within the role itself it cannot go unsaid Steven Kennedy very much delivers in the piece. Although just a one man show, the stage presence and command of the room is inherent throughout.
In close, it's true it should be said the play has a considerable array of adult content and language throughout. While given Jeremiah's Tuesday concerns a man stranded much can be forgive in context when asked 'how would you feel to be lost at sea?' - but just a fact to keep in mind in case thinking of taking a shyer or more reserved friend along to see what is otherwise a very memorable play at The Butterfly Club.
