Black Mountain Tower is a telecommunication tower and one of Canberra's most popular tourist attractions, suitable for the whole family. It rises 195 metres above the summit of Black Mountain, and presents 360 degree views of Canberra and surrounding areas.

The Tower was originally named Telecom Tower and later Telstra Tower. It has both indoor and outdoor observation decks and is open 7 days a week from from 9am to 10pm. 365 days per year.

Black Mountain Tower has a small café which is the perfect place for a snack, lunch or coffee while you enjoy the breathtaking views.

Also atop the Tower is Alto Restaurant, which takes approximately 85 minutes to revolve, offering spectacular views of the whole city. It is interesting to try and identify buildings such as The War Memorial, The Royal Australian Mint and Parliament House, as the restaurant moves around.

You can reach Black Mountain Tower by car from the Black Mountain Drive turn-off, on Clunies Ross Street, near the entrance to the Australian National Botanic Gardens. There is plenty of parking in the Tower's carpark. Please note, however, that your electronic car key does not work in the vicinity of the tower.
Many coach day tours also offer a trip to the tower.
