If you're already a fan of Black Milk, you probably already know about the sample sale that's coming up next weekend. If you are unaware of the Australian clothing brand that is probably best known for its super smooth nylon and lycra leggings that come in a variety of gorgeous modern prints as well as themes, such as Game of Thrones, Dr Who, Harry Potter and Star Wars, then I suggest you educate yourself. This brand is hot and has a rabid cult following, particularly of women in their twenties and thirties.

Based in Brisbane and seven years old, it is an online business with all the clothing made in a factory in Brisbane. It's really a lovely small business success story to look into. James Lillis, the founder of Black Milk, sold his CD player at his local cash converters to buy a sewing machine. Not having much money left over so he couldn't afford to buy silk and cotton, he bought nylon lining at $2 a metre and used it to make himself an ill-fitting shirt. As he experimented, he fell in love with stretch fabrics and his product line was born.

His line of clothes has proved so popular, he ships these items worldwide, to customers in Los Angeles, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Scotland, South Africa and Brazil. Many of these places have their own Facebook fan pages set up where people post pictures of themselves in the Black Milk creations, so delighted are Black Milk's customers with their purchases.
On at the SMC Conference and Function Centre on Goulburn St, in the Sydney CBD from 8am till 4pm on Saturday 27 February, this is your opportunity to snag one of Black Milk's clothing works of art for only $35 (the RRP retail price for many Black Milk items ranges from about $75 for leggings, up to around $140 for a dress). They will also have a range of crop tops, hosiery, nana tops and bottoms going for only $10. I should note that as it is a samples sale, it's not very likely that any of the items pictured here will be on sale - I've merely included them to show the array of beautiful clothes that Black Milk make. It should also be noted that as these are samples, the advertisement notes that garments may have minor faults and inconsistencies, and that they are one-off pieces - so there will be no refunds or returns.

Expect it to be busy - as of writing this article, the Black Milk Facebook page invitation has 2800 people interested in going, with 1100 people confirming they will be attending. I told you the fans of this brand were rabid. I suspect there will be an element of mayhem involved, but it's part of the fun. You don't know what you're going to find, but it will be sure to be good.
