In partnership with the Warrior Spirit Collective, Multicultural Arts Victoria is back with the Black Harmony Gathering on Sunday 13 March 2016 from 1pm to 5pm at the Fairfield Amphitheatre.

Get there in time for the opening and be a part of the special Welcome to Country, a Smoking Ceremony and a Koori Dance by the Koori Youth Will Shake Spears. Other entertainment featured will include -

multitalented Mutti Mutti song man Kutcha Edwards
a 7 piece roots reggae band Rasta Unity
Samoan dance specialists Tama Tatau
African Star Dance and Drumming Company in collaboration with performer and artist Matthew Weegberg of Mutti Mutti and Boonwurrung heritage·
Young MCs from Artful Dodgers Studio and
The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre Music Group (members from around the globe).

Koori Youth Will Shake Spears

Kids will be kept happy with activities to engage in and there'll be food on site. Run by members of the Warrior Spirit Arts Collective the Koori BBQ with Emu and Kangaroo sausages almost scream 'Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi!'

Be sure to bring one and all to this free event and enjoy the cultural vibe.

Black Harmony Gathering also coincides with Victoria's Cultural Diversity Week (12 to 20 March 2016) which is supported by the City of Yarra and Creative Victoria.

As part of Black Harmony Gathering 2016, Multicultural Arts Victoria is also presenting the film, The Good Deed followd by a Q&A session. The production was funded through the Pozible campaign.

The film is directed by independent filmmaker Eugeine E-NRG who also co-wrote it with journalist Ray Edgar and Aboriginal community leader Robbie Thorpe (Elder Duran Bunjileenee).

It features Robbie Thorpe as uncle Lucky and young Kynan Brown as an 11 year old delinquent Aboriginal street kid called Tyrone.

In this short film, Tyrone is give a chance to get over his fight with the LAW and find hope in the LORE of his people. Between two worlds, the film questions what culture and traditions will remain and what the future will bring. Tyrone's struggle to survive is only just beginning.
