Birrarung Park is located in Templestowe Lower and is a nice little park with an adventure playground for the kids to explore.
The park is a 33 hectare park was a meeting place and traditional land for the Wurundjeri people. The park forms part of the Yarra Valley Parklands and includes two wetland areas within it.
As you enter the park, you will see the adventure playground to your right. There is a large sheltered picnic area too with 4 picnic tables and two wood fire BBQ plates within the adventure playground area. Nearby the picnic areas are metal storage bins where firewood is provided for use within the BBQs.
Another picnic site also features an undercover picnic area with tables, and wood bbqs and a nearby toilet block. The toilet block is wheelchair accessible.
Within the park are two wetlands, however these are best seen during the wetter months of the year. The park also incorporates a nice wide circuit bike/walking path which is suitable for children to scooter around or ride their bikes on. It is also nice and shady in summer so a great place for a leisurely walk. The circuit path is 2.8km long so a nice distance for children to ride around a few times.
There are also some nice wide open spaces to play ball games in and spread out some picnic blankets as well. The park features some large trees which provide plenty of shade during the warmer months.
The park is open from 6am till 6pm with closing times extended to 9pm during daylight savings.
