Biome to the (boredom) rescue
It's almost school holiday time again! Who'd like something different for the kids to do? Nothing wrong with movie outings, ten pin bowling and museum visits, but let's face it, we all like to change it up now and then.
What about an activity that's fun, good value and ethically and ecologically sound? Take a look at Biome's skin care workshops developed specially for the holiday break.

Held at the Biome Collective in Paddington, the workshops are hands-on and include all the natural, toxin-free ingredients necessary to make low-waste DIY products that are also kind to sensitive skin. There are two options, based on age groups.
School Holiday Skin Care Workshop This one is for 8 to 11-year-olds, with sessions scheduled from 10 am to 11.30 am on Thursday 4 July and Tuesday 9 July. The kids will make three different creations to take home: a lip balm, an exfoliating lip scrub and a face mask (which they'll be making but not putting on in the workshop).
This option is suitable for teens of any age, and again there are two sessions scheduled: Thursday 4 July and Tuesday 9 July from 1.30 pm to 3 pm. The 'plant alchemy' take-homes will be a flower water toner, a roll-on perfume and a cleansing clay face mask, all made from gentle and toxin-free ingredients straight from Biome's naked beauty bar. Your teen will also take home a recipe sheet, so they can continue their low-waste personal care at home.
Each workshop costs $35, which is pretty reasonable for tuition, ingredients and supervision. Places are limited for each session and there's no drop-in admission, so book online quickly to secure a place. Visit Biome's Workshops page, choose the appropriate workshop and day, and pay online - sorted!
On the day, you need not stay with your child or teen at the workshop (although while they're happily occupied, you could always take the opportunity to have a leisurely browse of Biome's amazing product range in the shop next door), but you will need to sign them in on arrival and sign them out when you come back to collect.
Full details of the workshop and the terms and conditions of booking are listed online under each session.
While you're online, browse the other workshops Biome has to offer - why should the kids have all the fun? There are grown-ups' sessions regularly scheduled to show you easy, low-waste skin and hair care DIYs that are sustainable and ethical. Between you and the kids, it could start a whole new level of ethical consumer awareness in your home!
