Brisbane's award-winning, home-grown eco retailer, Biome, has expanded its store locations into the Brickworks Centre in Southport.

This is fantastic news for eco-conscious Coast consumers who seek ethical, sustainable, environmentally safe product choices. While Biome's online store is a great way to buy such products, nothing beats the atmosphere and service instore.

Biome Southport brings to the Gold Coast hundreds of sustainable and ethical products to meet all needs, as well as providing employment for more than ten local residents.

Founder Tracey Bailey explained the expansion. 'We had considerable demand from our customers for a Gold Coast store,' she said, 'and there's a strong environmentally conscious community on the coast as well as Northern New South Wales.'

True to Biome's philosophy, the Southport store is sustainably fitted out in gorgeous style, with upcycled light shades, cork cladding and sustainable Australian timbers. All product lines are completely palm oil–free.

There's a Naked Beauty Bar, with zero-waste bulk ingredients for making your own beauty products, and customers can browse slow-fashion clothing and accessories alongside homewares, personal care and kitchen items.

Excitingly, the new Southport store has its own workshop space. To empower people to live sustainably, Biome staff plan all kinds of DIY learning opportunities, including homewares craft, beauty products, sustainability talks, sewing classes and more.

'Our workshop space is an integral part of the store,' said Tracey, 'as it provides an educational and engaging in-store experience that allows us to extend our impact by teaching our customers sustainable living skills.'

You can check out the Gold Coast workshop schedule here. In the lead-up to Christmas, you can book in to learn macramé and make gifts like wall hangings and earrings.

And if making DIY beauty or cleaning products appeals to you, Biome Southport can provide you will all the raw ingredients you need to make your products.

The store even has a refill counter, with key products available on tap so that you can bring back your container to be topped up.
