Canberra Dance Theatre is hosting a special Biodanza workshop on Friday, 23 August 2013 at 7:30pm. Biodanza, which in Spanish translates as 'the dance of life', was developed in the 1960s by the Chilean anthropologist and psychologist Rolando Toro. Today it is popular the world over and is known to have a range of health benefits as it 'promote[s] the ability to make a holistic link to oneself, emotions and to express them' (Biodanza Wikipedia).
Biodanza is perfect for those who want to relax, let go of stress, and experience the enjoyment of movement and dance without having to learn steps or "get it right"; you receive indications and guided facilitation but you create your own steps, as you allow yourself to be made to dance by the music.
This particular workshop will be facilitated by Kate and Claudio, who were trained by Rolando Toro Araneda in South America and by other international instructors in Europe and South Africa. Kate and Claudio are currently based in Sydney and are excited about promoting Biodanza in Australia and in particular in Sydney and Canberra;
"Our intention is to offer authentic, inspiring and supportive dance spaces where you can experience your potential for joy, pleasure and aliveness in the dance of life." [Kate & Claudio - Biodanza Australia].
This workshop is open to all; it doesn't matter what your age is or skill level is - all are welcome to participate, so bring along a friend or family member. During the course of the 2 hour class, participants will perform the specialised Biodanza dance routines, as well as engage in fun group activities - including singing!
