Life is about the journey - some roads are not always what they seem but you sure learn a great deal from them!
Believe it or not, Bingo originated from a country fair game called Beano. This was a game, similar to Bingo, where a dealer would select discs out of a cigar box, and players would mark their card with a bean. Of course, instead of calling 'Bingo', players would call 'Beano' if they won. This all happened around the 1930's.
Prior to this, the game can be traced to Germany and Italy. In Italy the game is called 'Lo Giuoco del Lotto D'Italia' and is still payed every Saturday night. The Germans used it as a child's game to teach children maths.
On the 2 November 2013, Blue Tree Productions will be hosting a Bingo Night at Hottentots Holland High School, Somerset West from 6:30 pm to 11:30 pm. There will be prizes and spot prizes to be won throughout the night. Cards of 10 games will be sold for R30.00 per student and R50.00 per adult.
