Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, dear Bindi!
Bindi Irwin's birthday is on Tuesday 24 July. For other states, children might still be on winter school holidays, but for Queensland most of the kids are back at school, so I guess a 'sickie' might be the order of the day, to make sure you don't miss out on Bindi's special birthday celebrations.
This is very exciting news! You're invited to your very own Animal Planet wildlife celebration at Australia Zoo to celebrate Bindi's 20th birthday. All children fourteen years of age and under get FREE* entry (conditions apply, see below) into Australia Zoo - how awesome is that!
Make sure you stay 'on top of things' and put Bindi's birthday celebrations on your calendar!
The gates at Australia Zoo will be opening at 8.00am on Tuesday 24 July. But, before the gates open, there is a FREE brekkie* being provided by Mix FM from 7.00am at the front entrance to Australia Zoo. With tummies full after a good brekkie, it's the perfect way to start your action-packed day of adventure at Australia Zoo.
Don't forget to wear your khaki to the birthday celebrations - according to Bindi, 'it's more than a colour, it's an attitude'!
Have your pic taken with Bindi, the birthday girl!
Visitors are invited to head to the pink carpet for an exciting opportunity to meet the birthday girl herself, Bindi and mum, Terri and brother, Robert. This 'meet and greet' will provide you with a fantastic photo opportunity too - if you go to school in Queensland, just remember NOT to post pics onto social media - you're supposed to be taking a 'sickie', remember!
All the action at the Mount Franklin Crocoseum kicks off at 11.45am when Bindi, Terri and Robert will be feeding the crocs. By visiting Australia Zoo on Bindi's birthday, you will get to personally wish Bindi 'happy birthday' plus you will get FREE birthday cake*. The cake will be available from 2.30pm outside the Crocoseum. In addition, the Irwin family are launching a new show in October and you will be one of the first to see a special preview of Animal Planet.

There's so much to do at Australia Zoo! Visitors can learn the ropes of becoming a wildlife rescuer! This is a very important 'job' to be able to do, especially with wildlife being injured during bushfire season and also by getting to close to roads. More and more of the animals' habitat is being cleared by developers too, which is also forcing the wildlife to gravitate into the suburbs, making them susceptible to being attacked by domestic animals. So, you can see why learning all about wildlife rescue becomes very important.
Conquer the Australia Zoo rescue challenge obstacle course or climb the eight metre rock wall to help the rescue team save a furry friend - please note no animals will be harmed during the rescue challenge, as a plush toy is being used! Get to chat to Australia Zoo's very own rescue team and find out about the work they do saving our native wildlife. Cool stuff!
Meet the cute echidna's and their carers
If you're into reptilian 'friends' and have always wanted to hold or touch a snake or lizard, then the hands-on reptile presentation is for you! Australia Zoo's very own reptile team will teach you about the slithery and the scaly and this will be your opportunity to meet these scalies firsthand. I will definitely be giving this one a wide berth.
Guess what! There's even an Animal Attraction Competition! The wildlife at Australia Zoo are very keen to show you some extra special love, especially as it's Bindi's birthday. Register at Australia Zoo's admission area from 8.00am* for the opportunity to participate in a really up-close and personal encounter with the animals and test your animal magnetism skills to win a hippopota-mungous Australia Zoo prize.
Test your animal magnetism skills in the Animal Attraction Competition
This is sure turning out to be an adventurous day filled with all sorts of animal 'stuff'. You can learn about the wildlife from the people (the keepers and the vet), who actually care for the amazing wildlife.
