In the backstreets of Annerley there's a revolution happening which begun with a push from Annerley Junction locals and businesses to make their suburb friendly and full of activity. The newest kid on the block which is making Annerley awesome again is . Now just over a year old, this little cafe and restaurant is a little bit of a superstar for locals and Brisbanites. Opened and run by celebrity chef Ben O'Donoghue it has been transformed from the old Clifton Hill General Store into a warm, friendly and delicious experience.

Past the counters brimming with tasty delights is a large dining area which extends from the front entrance all the way out to the back which is open to allow a friendly breeze to waft through the whole space. A queue of locals can usually be found ordering their caffeine hit for the day with a tasty morsel to take away.

We sat out the front for our breakfast date and were served almost immediately by a well-dressed hipster-type with an old fashioned leather coverall apron. With a cup of coffee and a cold drink on the table in record time, we then set about choosing our meals. I chose the Aussie Asian Breakfast, Duck egg with 2 king prawns, bacon and chilli and I can tell you that while it wasn't a huge portion, it hit the spot for a casual Saturday breakfast. My husband had the Crispy corn fritters, grilled avocado, heirloom tomatoes and they were just as described - crisp and flavourful and offset by the cool avocado and juicy tomatoes.

The flowers at the front door for you to purchase are a nice touch and remind you of the building's previous life of a general store. It's such a lovely spot without too much traffic so it's peaceful enough to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. We will be back for one of their famous seasonal menus including Oktoberfest, Greek and Tuscan months!
