It is always a relief to be able to sit down for a coffee and allow your child to be just that, a kid. No dirty looks from begrudged singles, no exasperated sighs from wait staff as your child climbs under the table or races off. No stress. For these reasons alone, child friendly cafes are a godsend.


Indoor play centres [i]with [/i] a cafe in them are also a haven for the coffee/ sometimes socially deprived parent. You can sit back and allow your child to play in one of the three age specific play areas whilst you enjoy a hot drink, the newspaper and some cake. There is also an impressive selection of mains available and the children's menu is sure to pacify even a most discerning of 'fusstots.'

There are a number of food options, ranging from decadent to healthy (for both adults and kids) and a number of allergy friendly options to boot.

Another exciting addition to the Billy Lids experience for kids is that roughly every two hours (depending on amount of kids present) a bell will ring. This is a sign that pandemonium is to ensue, as all of the kids race toward the centre to get a chance to ride in the motorised bug car- ride. This ride operates within the centre at no extra cost.


Between the jumping castle, bug cars, giant netted in play structure, smaller structures and ball pits, your kids are sure to be entertained for hours. This alone makes it worth the $10 entry fee.

So if you're looking for a new cafe to try, or good value entertainment for the kids take them along to Billy Lids and relax with a cuppa. I also recommend the carrot cake.
