I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.
Situated on Blues Point Road, Billi's Cafe is a ten-minute walk from North Sydney Station. In a renovated terrace, there is plenty of seating inside or outside in the sunshine. Open from 7 am daily, they are popular with workers getting coffee or breakfast on the way to work and for others enjoying casual weekend brunches.
The comprehensive menu contains something to please everyone, including fruit salad, eggs benedict, burgers, wraps, soup and pasta. Many of the items are suitable for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets.
The food was tasty and filling and the slow-cooked beef cheek ragu was particularly good. The beef was rich and succulent and complemented by the smooth and tender pappardelle. The salmon was well cooked and had a lovely crispy skin that contrasted with the pumpkin purée and salad of julienned seasonal vegetables.
The staff are friendly and the cafe was quite busy during the Sunday lunch service. The clientele was mostly made up of couples and young families from all walks of life, enjoying the sun on a winter's day.
