is a 1.5 km street in the Chirnside Village Estate.

It is good exercise for both local residents and anyone who wants a good workout with beautiful gardens to see.

The Way meanders and is quite undulating in parts, which could be a challenge to the mobility challenged.

The rise in elevation is a good reason to stop and photograph some of the colourful flowers that are in abundance.

It is a no through road although it has many side streets that will lead you out of the area. Although if you walk both sides of the street, coming and going, your floral rewards will be doubled.

The nature strips on both sides are planted with trees and with all the power and telephone cables underground, it makes for a pleasing environment.

One of the side streets you pass is Goldentree Drive. On its corner with is the Goldentree Reserve . This is well worth a diversion as it contains a lake, which is normally active with water birds.

Another diversion is between numbers 31 & 37, in what appears to be a vacant block. Closer inspection reveals that the boundary areas have been landscaped and it is designated as a park.

It was in this area that I saw the only avian activity. Many noisy miners were flying around living up to their name, before perching in the trees.

A splash of distant colour manifested itself in the form of a rainbow lorikeet, perched high among a flowering gum tree. Surprisingly, no magpies were sighted.

Almost every walk I take around suburban streets, there is always a new specimen of flower to see, and has many.

Many local residents were out and about, either singly, with children or with the family dog.

I saw two gentlemen exercising with a purpose - mowing their lawn.

At almost every intersection a roundabout slowed all traffic, which would make it a quiet and safe area to live in, or to take a suburban stroll. The roundabouts were quite large and most were planted with low growing shrubs, adding to the verdant environment.

The roundabouts, the nature strip trees and underground cables indicate how a planned housing estate can be an asset compared to older suburbs, which sometimes just seem to happen.

If you are a keen gardener, I recommend frequent walks along the streets in relatively new housing estates in the outer suburbs. Almost all the gardens have been landscaped rather than evolved over time and you can get some good ideas for your own plot.

A walk along will not disappoint.
