As backpackers go, this is the closest thing to an actual hotel type resort that you will find in Perth. Billabong has a huge swimming pool, clean and friendly accommodation and a different event or activity for guests every night of the week. Although this place is slightly more pricey than other nearby backpackers, it is in a superb location, and has a lot more to offer than most of its rivals.
They have pool competitions, free BBQ's, soccer matches, late night shopping experiences and free beach drop offs for all of their guests. They also have affiliations with local clubs and bars, offering free drop offs and discounted rates on certain nights. All in all, this is everything the party conscious backpacker could want.
The Billabong lies on Beaufort street, famous for its festival and it's fine eateries, wine bars and pubs. Mt Lawley is one of the best areas in Perth for a great night out, and staying here will leave you just a 5 minute walk away from the Beaufort Street coffee strip, bang in the middle of Mount Lawley.
Room rates start at $26 per night for an 8 bed dorm, sliding up the scale to $82 for a single room. I would thoroughly recommend giving this place a go if you're eager to meet other backpackers and have fun whilst enjoying WA and Perth.
