If you're not afraid of working up a sweat, consider trying Bikram Yoga.

What is Bikram Yoga?
Basically, Bikram Yoga, aka "hot yoga", is yoga performed in a hot room. The room is usually 40 degrees Celsius with 40% humidity. The heat is said to result in deeper stretching and accelerate the benefits of yoga. These benefits are extensive and include improved metabolism, increased flexibility, better sleep, a strengthened immune system, not to mention toning and improving posture.

Bikram Yoga is for anyone - any age, size and fitness level so don't be put off if you've never tried it before or aren't exactly a fitness junkie.

Bikram Yoga usually runs for about 90 minutes and consists of 26 different postures known as Asanas and two different breathing exercises.

If you're interested in giving it a go, there are numerous locations around Sydney which offer Bikram Yoga. For example, Bikram Yoga Northside (Lane Cove), Bikram Yoga Darlinghurst and Bikram Yoga Brookvale. Jump on Google and search for a place near you.

Prices vary and are usually cheaper the more classes you buy but expect to pay around $20 for one class. Most places offer packages of a set number of classes and unlimited classes for a set amount of time (ten days, monthly, yearly, etc).

If you've tried Bikram Yoga before and know of a good place to go, feel free to recommend it in the comments box below.
