Want to be a record breaker? Ever dreamed of being in the Guinness Book of Records? This world record attempt is calling all girls – mums, daughters, sisters, aunties, grannies – this one is for all of you. The event is Australia's attempt to win back The Guinness World Record's Largest Bikini Parade. The Gold Coast set the record in October 2011 with 357 bikini clad ladies on parade. It then went to Panama City with 450 and is currently held by China with a total of 1085. The parade is a total distance walked in a single line of 1.6km.
So all you need to help Australia to win back the record, is to be female (sorry boys, you have to sit this one out), wear a 2 piece swimsuit (no g strings), register and be in Surfers Paradise on Sunday 6 January for the event.
The registration process involves: Filling out your details on a form (you can do this online or go in to the Sign Up Shop in Circle on Cavill), paying the fee of $10 for 17 & under or $20 for 18 & over, meet the organisers, have your photo taken in a photo shoot (for the participant gallery) and collect your welcome kit. In case you are wondering where the money goes, it benefits the chosen charity of Surfers Paradise Life Saving Club, who were presented with a cheque for $10,000 from the 2011 World Record breaking Bikini Parade. Check In, on the day, is on the beach from 8am – 10am. The world record attempt starts at 10am. All ladies must walk in single file and cover 1.6kms. The parade ends on stage on Surfers Paradise Beach with every participant walking a catwalk under a counter clocking to officially register numbers.
