A worthy charity you may be able to help
Bicycles for Humanity (B4H) Adelaide will be holding a special bike donation day. Do you have an old mountain bike in the shed you no longer use? Then how about donating it to a worthwhile cause.

This organisation is accepting your donations of preloved mountain bikes that we pack into our shipping container bound for a community in need in Namibia, Africa. The partner charity in Namibia is the Bicycling Empowerment Network (BEN). BEN transport the shipping container full of bikes to a location in Namibia where local people are trained in small business and bike mechanic skills.

Mountain bikes are needed as they are stronger and have thicker tyres to cope with the rugged terrain and dirt roads in Africa. This bike donation drive will enable people in the Nabian communities to have access to affordable, sustainable transportation in the form of a bike. Compared to walking, people can travel further and faster as well as carry four times the load on a bike. This will benefit them with better access to education, healthcare and economic opportunity. Profits from the eBox, which are locally based enterprises based on bicycling around are fed back into the community to support local charities, such as orphanages and support for health care workers in response to the AIDS crisis in Namibia.
