Opposite Clayton station, on Carinish Road, is the Bikanerwala Indian Restaurant. It's hard to miss with its orange board just outside the restaurant. Taking one step in is like taking a step into a new cultural experience, with a strange but welcomed concoction of Bollywood music, Indian artwork hanging on the walls, a casual diner atmosphere and a sweets parlour that greets you as you enter.
While there is much to choose from Bikanerwala's menu, it is worth trying some of the Indian sweets they offer, especially one known as 'jelabi'. It is not only my personal favourite, but it costs under a dollar for a piece and is worth every cent. One might not want to buy more than three pieces of this delicacy at a time as it is very sweet!
Other Indian sweets sold at Bikanerwala include 'gulab jamun' and 'rasmalai'. One drink worth a try is the lassi. While choices of main course may not suit everyone's liking, it is, objectively speaking, not bad but it isn't the best Indian food around. If you're really hungry and find yourself along Carinish Road, and you only got $20, it might just be enough for a dish or two and a drink or sweet.
