There is a very significant milestone coming up, and that is the Australian Red Cross's 100th birthday in August.

A special event is taking place to mark the occasion, a nationwide BigCakeBake. People and businesses are encouraged to bake a cake and raise funds for the Red Cross. Bake your favourite cake, slice, pie, cupcake, cookie or dessert to support a good cause. Events can include a morning or afternoon tea, cake sale or baking competition – the opportunities are endless. The official event date is Monday, 25th August 2014, however, to make sure nobody misses out, events can be held any time, anywhere throughout August.


To participate in the event, you must register . Once you've registered, a host kit will be sent to you with all the tools you need to run a successful event, including an information booklet, donation box, posters etc. There are also resources to download online .


All donations raised from the BigCakeBake will support the everyday work of the Red Cross, including programs and services to help some of the most vulnerable people in Australia and further afield. Prizes are on offer to the top fundraisers (watch the website for details), and there is also a fundraising 'wall of fame'.
