BIG4 Ingenia Holiday Park at Soldiers Point is located near the end of the Soldiers Point peninsula, Bay, New South Wales 2315/BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Soldiers Point, 122 Soldiers Point Rd, Soldiers Point NSW 2317/@-32.7261628,152.093513,14z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m13!4m12!1m5!1m1!1s0x6b7383c232b5436d:0x5017d681632f200!2m2!1d152.151111!2d-32.715!1m5!1m1!1s0x6b7378ad90f9f699:0x79b7524cdeb2f674!2m2!1d152.0709117!2d-32.7117875 just 15 minutes from Nelson Bay in the heart of the Port Stephens region. It is a handy location to just walk out for dinner, with the Soldiers Point Bowling Club right next door (which is perfect for kids) and the hugely popular Rick Stein Port Stephens restaurant across the road, inside the newly-built Bannisters hotel. Across the road is also a boat ramp with a small pier that you can fish from and a narrow sandy bay for swimming.

When you first arrive at Big4 Soldiers Point, it is a friendly and easy check-in, then you enter through the boom gate and find your cabin or camping spot. As we drove in we heard the sound of kids laughing in the distance, basketballs getting bounced and squeals coming from the pool a few metres away. This family-friendly venue had our daughter jumping out of her car seat in excitement - she couldn't wait to get out to join them!

The accommodation options at Big4 Soldiers Point include 3-bedroom Pheonix cabins, family Oasis cabins which overlook the grassed area, Kentia and Cascade cabins which sleep up to six, and 2-bedroom Bangalow cabins which sleep up to four.

The Cascades cabin that we booked into was small but very clean, and everything that we needed on our stay. Our cabin had a double bed in one room and a set of twin bunks in the other - which could have slept six people in total. It would have been a little tight for six people to stay in this one small cabin, however, it was perfect for our family of three. Although it was a clean and cute cabin, the beauty of this park is that you don't spend much time inside anyway!

On our family's visit to this holiday park, we instantly felt like we were on a holiday with lorikeets darting through the trees, palm trees swaying in the breeze and a relaxed holiday vibe around the whole park. When we first arrived, our daughter was keen to explore the kid's activities - and there was a lot to explore!

If that's not enough to do, there were also kids riding around the streets and on the bike track on pedal bikes, which you can hire from the front reception. This is also where you can buy a few snacks such as chips and cold drinks, to get you through the day. If you need to buy more food to fill up your fridge on your stay, there is a small IGA supermarket at Soldiers Point shops nearby and the closest Woolworths/ Coles is at Salamander Bay Square , 10 minutes away. If you are camping, the camp kitchen is an impressive place to whip up some home-cooked meals on your holiday.

For families who wish to eat out, a fun night out for kids is at the White Sands Bistro at the Soldiers Point Bowling Club next door to the Big 4. The bistro has a wide variety of meals to choose from and the kids will enjoy playing outside on the large playground while waiting for mum or dad to call them back to the table to eat.

Big4 Soldiers Point is the perfect place to spend a few nights (at least!), these school holidays!
