The Northern Light Theatre Company presents 'Big: The Musical', adapted from the book by John Weidman. The show premiered at The Shedley Theatre on October 9th running until October 24th.

Directed by David Gauci, musically directed by Emma Knights and choreographed by Shenayne Wilkinson-Sarti, it is the story of Josh Baskin and his wish to be big. After being told hes too small to ride a ride at the fair, twelve-year-old Josh wishes to be big.

The next day, he wakes up as an adult and must find his way in a grown-up world navigating life, work and love along the way, all with the help of his young best friend, Billy.

He gets a job working in a toy factory under Mr Baskin (Ray Melton) where he is promoted to second in charge. He finds he is really good at the job and meets Susan, who he very quickly becomes fond of.

The show starts with Young Josh played by Jack Raft who has such a beautiful singing voice and moves into Older Josh played by Charlie Smith who has a talent for acting. Raft did such a good job representing his on-stage attraction for Cynthia Benson (Erin Sowerby).

Smith was born to play this part as he has a maturity well above his age. His on-screen romance with Kate Dempsey who played Susan Lawrence was remarkable. They represented the connection very well.

Daniel Vickers graced the stage again this time as Billy Kopkis. This young man has a lot of talent; after first seeing him in 'Happy Days', I was very happy to hear his amazing voice again.

As the story progresses, Josh has to decide whether to go back to being a kid who can't talk to girls, or stay in a life as an adult with a woman who loves him and a job he's good at. This is a must see show and another amazing production by Northern Light Theatre Company - 10/10.
