If your little one finds the typical indoor play centre a bit tame, but you're not prepared to sign them up for bungy jumping just yet, it may be time to check out the Big Slide .

Whilst it is not a particularly large centre, the Big Slide manages to pack in a lot of great activities, the most exciting being three enormous, rainbow coloured slides.

The tallest slide stands eight metres high - which doesn't sound like a lot, until you are sitting at the top, about to take your first ride! This and the second tallest slide (which is six metres high) each have three lanes, making it a great way for kids to race their friends, and for more timid littlies to have the reassurance of Mum or Dad riding alongside them.

Each slide connects in to a central climbing gym which provides loads of obstacles to challenge the kids, including net bridges, a rock climbing wall, tunnels, punching bags, squeeze rollers and a jumping castle.

At the foot of the slide area is a securely enclosed toddler area, ideal for children under three years. Kitted out with Cosy Coupe style ride-in cars, scooters, cubby houses, mini slides, activity stations, tunnels and a low-lying jumping castle, it provides plenty of amusement for smaller visitors, whilst the big kids play daredevil.

Thankfully for parents and guardians, there is an onsite cafe - serving reasonably priced coffee, ice creams and a simple selection of warm and cold snacks and drinks - alongside the large seating area.

Entry prices from Monday to Friday range from $8-12 depending on your child's age, and provide for unlimited play time during your visit. Weekend entry prices are little higher.

Set well back from the roaring traffic that thunders down a heavily commercial stretch of Ferntree Gully Road, just a couple of kilometres from Carribean Gardens & Market , the Big Slide sits alongside Eastern Indoor Sports Centre . NB. If you are visiting the Big Slide for the first time, you would be wise to check your street directory beforehand, as the entrance can be easily missed. Limited onsite parking is available at the front of the centre, and in the service lane.
