Get yourself to the Bay and join in the big red fun
The Big Red Ride and Run returns to Glenelg on Saturday 17th January 2015 in order to raise valuable funds for Muscular Dystrophy South Australia. Big Red participants will have the option to either ride along the picturesque seaside route from Glenelg to Outer Harbor, or to run either a 5km or 10km from Glenelg to West Beach or Henley Beach and return.
The Big Red Ride is always a great way to kick start the cycling season, taking place the day before the start of the Tour Down Under. And similar to the 2014 event, participants will ride alongside Australian cycling legend Bradley McGee.
Participants in the run can choose to run or walk 5km or 10km while enjoying spectacular seaside views. The run will feature a loop course separate to the ride course, which will also start and finish from Wigley Reserve, Glenelg.
With both a cycling and running / walking leg, the event is suitable for the whole family. And with all events starting and finishing at Wigley Reserve, everyone can join in the fun together. However, to ensure the safety and enjoyment for both ride and run participants, the start times of all events will be staggered with cyclists on the road at 8am, and runners and walkers soon thereafter.
Prior to the event, there will be the traditional perk-me-up coffee stalls, while after the event the Muscular Dystrophy Association of SA will create a fun, family friendly atmosphere with many more food stalls, beverages of all types, and plenty of live entertainment.
By registering, donating to or raising money for Muscular Dystrophy SA participants will make a difference to the lives of children and adults living with neuromuscular conditions. This generosity will help them to live the full and active life they deserve.
