Big Mama Korean & Japanese Restaurant

Just had my first Bento Box experience at Big Mama, a Korean and Japanese restaurant on Swanston Street in Carlton. I really liked the attention to detail that went into everything here, like the little triangles they cut out of my carrots. (I wonder what happens to those triangles...?)

You might want to arrive early because this place seems popular (it's not far from Melbourne University). I got there around midday and the restaurant was full within half an hour.

I ordered a vegetarian Bento Box, but they also had beef, chicken, pork, seafood and eel varieties (as well as other meals altogether). My lunch involved an assortment of rice, cabbage, onion, carrot, broccoli, bean shoots, cucumber, egg and soft tofu. The sauce tasted honey/soy/teriyaki-ish. I want to say that it was served with a small bowl of soup but maybe it was actually a large bowl of dipping sauce. In any case, it was all delicious, and great value for money.

Service was quick and staff were friendly. I'll definitely be back.
Heads-up: Big Mama takes cash only.

9 days later and I've worked it out. The bento box was served with Miso soup.
