In the little town of Mullumbimby in northern NSW lie a few very nice looking cafes. Loving my food as I do, finding them was a great score; especially Big Mama.

This "roast vegie toasted sandwich" arrived without a fuss, without a lot of fanciness and with a simple presentation. There was nothing simple about it. This was one of the tastiest sandwiches I've ever had the pleasure of devouring. Imagine this: A layer of greens, roasted eggplant and pumpkin, fetta cheese, pesto, grated beetroot and caramelised onion. It was more like a burger than a 'sandwich' and it certainly hit the spot. Cost? $12. I noticed they use Bun Coffee from Byron Bay which is a tasty rich flavoured coffee - a favourite for coffee lovers all over these parts and beyond.

These organic cakes looked pretty good too, especially for people who are on a gluten free, sugar free, dairy free diet. Nice to be able to enjoy a treat that's not going to cause problems for you later.

Big Mama is located at 47 Burringbar street and open 7 days from 7.30 am - 4.pm. It's decor was simple and stress free, magazines strewn around and a couple of sofas to sit on.

Mullumbimby is situated aprox half an hour from Byron Bay so if your holidaying and feel like taking a drive out to through some very picturesque country, Mullumbimby is one top spot.
