Its beach season in Sydney once the winter chill is gone with people flocking all popular beaches. In such a season if you want a beach all for yourself then why not plan a day out at .
Backing onto Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, has no road access and no roads or vehicles. Normal access to the beach is by the Palm Beach Ferry, a water taxi, or a private boat.

Surrounded by lush vegetation, this 600m stretch of sand is a great place for backpackers seeking a bit of peace. For those who tend to be more adventurous you can try the walking trail that links Big Mackerel beach to Little Mackerel beach or bushwalk into the adjoining Big Mackerel Reserve.

The beach does not provide a lot of facilities and shops so its advisable to hop onto the ferry from Palm Beach Wharf with food and drinks that you may need. With calm and shallow waters, the beach is perfect for little ones too. Talking about scenic locations, the view from this beach of Palm beach on the other end and Pittwater and Barrenjoey will leave you with some beautiful photographs.

Check out some ariel photographs of the beach here and here.

If you are planning a day trip to then do check out the Palm Beach Wharf Ferry timetable for ferry access to the beach.
