We are a society of pet lovers and dogs have been considered 'man's best friend' from the dawn of time, so why not a wonderful family dog's day out; must be on a lead at all times of course, otherwise can you just imagine! Head to KCC Park, State Dog Centre, 655 Westernport Highway, Skye on Sunday 10 December 2017 from 10.30am to 4pm. Entry is free, however a gold coin donation to the Skye CFA is appreciated, and let's face it, the CFA do a wonderful job saving lives. Parking is available but there are limited spaces.

Dogs Victoria invites you and your dogs to their Open Day and festive event to enjoy a free fun-filled day of pooch-related activities. Grab your canine and human friends, meet fellow dog lovers and share a great day out at KCC Park. Bring a picnic and make a day of it, or you can purchase hot and cold refreshments at the venue. Following are the main events and attractions to see and do -

Meet the Breeds: Meet members and have a cuddle with their dogs. Learn about purebred dogs and all the different breeds as well as the many responsibilities that come with owning a dog, including which one best suits your family and lifestyle.
Dog Sport Demonstrations: Agility: A fast, exciting obstacle course where dogs and their owners have to 'beat the clock' through a series of jumps, ramps, elevated walks, weave poles, different types of tunnels and a see-saw.
Obedience: Dogs must perfectly execute a predefined set of tasks when directed to do so by his handler, from basic commands through to more advanced skills
Dances with Dogs: watch dogs perform to music as they do routines with their human partners!
Earthdog: is for small terriers and other breeds to use their natural instincts in a safe, simulated underground environment.
Dog Sport Competition: This is a traditional competition, where the dogs conformation (overall appearance) are judged against the breed standard.
Have A Go: Lure Coursing: Your dog can have fun jumping, pouncing, running and spinning and as they chase a lure around a course
Tunnelling: Dogs can have a go at running through a tunnel course
Fun Competitions: Has your dog got the waggiest tail? Or has a talent to share? Or maybe is the 'next top model dog'? Enter and win some great prizes.
Shopping: The Canine Christmas Market with plenty of stalls and exhibitors with everything a dog will need. A great place to spoil your pooch.
Kids Activities: Free face painting and jumping castles.
Informational: -Visit the Laurie Luxmore Library, the largest canine resource centre in Australia and the Canine museum with a diverse collection of items to explore and buy.
General and membership enquiries at the Dogs Victoria stand, no joining fee if you sign up as a member on the day, pick-up a show bag and enter the mega raffle.
