The inner west has many a foodie delight to offer, however they're usually in Newtown, have little to no parking, are over-priced and have been tried and tested by everyone and anyone. However, if you want to show-off your foodieness to your friends, you need to make Big Brekkie, your next brunch destination.
There is ample street parking on the side streets and it's right on Stanmore Road in Petersham but not amongst the main stretch of Petersham shops which means that you will actually be able to find a parking spot.
The cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner but I have to say the breakfast menu is what really sets it apart from other cafes. While they serve, the typical Big Breakfast, pancakes, french toast and bacon and egg roll they take a traditional recipe and add their own delicious twist. Using local organic produce, they pride themselves on bringing the produce from the garden straight to your plate, and you can taste the freshness.
My favourites on the breakfast menu have to be the AMAZING bacon and egg roll with tomato and rocket relish, the delicious tomato relish really sets it apart, it goes perfectly with the crispy bacon and the runny egg. Is your mouth watering?
If you're up for a sweet option try the tasty and surprisingly light on the stomach, Pancakes topped with ricotta, mixed berry and strawberries compote. It is incredible. Normally I'm a bit wary of a ricotta topping but Big Brekky's is light and very satisfying.
Oh, let's not forget about the coffee. The coffee is incredible, it's quite clear that the baristas have been very well trained. The amount of locals that have made this their morning meccas is proof.
Whether you're wanting to try this place to up your foodie cred, or because you're tired of your current brunch place, Big Brekky is definetly a place to try once, maybe twice - okay trust me, you'll be hooked after the first taste.
