It's on again! The Big Book Day Out is a FREE fun-filled family event organised by the Children's Book Council of Australia NSW Branch. Held in the beautiful grounds of the NSW Writers' Centre, Callan Park, Rozelle, it's a day of celebrating books with the opportunity to meet some of your favourite authors, including Ted Prior - creator of Grug. You'll also get to see illustrators working their magic, visit the story tent, have fun on the jumping castle, enjoy performances, create something special in the Make and Do area and browse the bookshop. You can also bring your books along and have them signed by authors on the day.
Highlights include Jacqueline Harvey, Gus Gordon, Yvette Poshglian, R.A. Spratt, Tristan Bancks, Sue Whiting and more.
This year's Book Week theme is Books Light Up Our World and as part of the celebration, you're invited to create a themed poster for your chance to win one of five fantastic prizes. Each prize includes a $50 Staedtler pack and $80 worth of Penguin Random House books. One pack will be awarded for each year from Years 2-6. More details about the competition and how to enter can be found here.
Coffee, sausage sizzle and cakes are available at the event and you're also welcome to bring a picnic, settle in for the day and just enjoy the fabulous atmosphere.
Book the date in your diary now so you don't miss this great day out.
