Cricket - once a slow, boring game, now short, sharp and fun
Cricket is a sport people are quick to judge, 'I'd rather watch paint dry or grass grow' is a common phrase when the sport is mentioned, however gone are the days of cricket being solely known for its 5 day test matches.

Meet Twenty20 Cricket, fast becoming one of Australia's premier entertainment events, drawing bigger crowds every year, the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash Cricket Competition is a great night (or day) out for all. T20 is a shortened form of the game designed to entertain.

The Big Bash competition brings legendary cricketers such as Shane Warne, Muttiah Muralitharin and Chris Gayle together to participate in the two month long competition.

It is a nation wide competition with teams from all capital cities including two from Melbourne and two from Sydney.

The game I attended saw Aaron Finch's Melbourne Renegades taking on Ricky Ponting's Hobart Hurricanes. It did not fail to live up to expectations as the fireworks flew (literally - every time there was a 6 hit or a wicket, strategically placed fireworks were blasted off into the sky)

Although you may encounter the occasional drunkards or fools, venues are now implementing family-friendly dry areas to encourage family attendance.

With adult tickets only $20, and kids from $8, as well as special family deals, the Big Bash League is also not only great fun but affordable for the whole family.
