Looking for a low cost family outing? , part of the Beeliar Regional Park in the City of Cockburn, is a great destination.

Enjoy a picnic in the open parkland and walk or cycle around the six kilometre dual use path that circumnavigates the lake.

Amble down one of the smaller paths and discover bird hides. We came across a large duck family and could see a swan nesting on some reeds. We also discovered the very curious 'motorbike frogs'.

Coming from South Australia, where the common frog species are tiny and difficult to see, it was intriguing that once we worked out the noise we were hearing were not motorbikes but frogs; we were able to locate and photograph one.

Although dogs are allowed at the park, they need to be kept on the lead as the area is an important wetland and supports several migratory bird species and endangered species. It is also historically important to the local Aboriginal people.

There is also an amazing playground and skate park as well as clean public toilets. A food truck supplies coffees and ice creams.
And if you are looking for more activities, Adventureland and the ice skating rink are nearby.
