Why is the Dalai Lama charging so much for people to see him? What does he do with the money? I am sure he has a noble cause he's pursuing but I think it would be nice to tell the public about it to explain where the money goes.

Agreed. From the prices being charged, it seems only the more affluent are deemed redeemable enough to be able to afford a ticket. I purchased tickets for the public talk at $75 each and received a notice from ticketek about the event (explaining security, timing etc) & at the end, it says "Enjoy the show". So perhaps its entertainment after all.
