Help our furry friends and shop with a conscience
Down the iconic Annerley Arcade is a little shop called Betty's. It's small, I mean tiny, but it's full to bursting with vintage, retro and hand picked second-hand goodness. You will spend hours when you thought you only had minutes to spare as you to turn over every item, look through each dresser and try on every piece of wonderful that is in the store.
Betty herself (well, it's not her real name but everyone now calls her by it!) is a gorgeous lady who has set the store up with the intention to give all proceeds to the Animal Welfare League and she also supports individual animal welfare projects.
She has supported ladies who foster possums by using shop proceeds to help purchase supplies, food and shelters for the little tykes.
My favourite pile of second hand goodness is the basket of doilies and hankies which are all embroidered and neatly folded into little plastic packages. I've spent most of my money just flipping through the delicate lace and linen of those lovely items - it's now an off-limits section for me when I visit!
Knowing exactly where your dollars are going is so important when you give to a charity. Betty can tell you where the proceeds and even the names of people you are helping to assist our furry, feathered and fishy friends.
Shopping with a conscience was never so much fun as it is at Betty's Shop.
