The family and I took ourselves off to Ascot Vale to check out the annual
Better Homes and Gardens LIVE show on Saturday.
We were overwhelmed by the volume of people attending the show, and traffic queues to park our car.
Once inside the venue, we were impressed by how well the event had been organised, offering exhibition goers many interactive workshops to join in with, demonstrations by well known DIY and chef celebrities, free product samples, and various special offers on the day.
Another interesting notation had to be the variety of exhibitors, ranging from candle makers, photographers, organic coconut product suppliers, pet product suppliers and vintage hair stylists, in between the expected stallholders exhibiting kitchen cookware, cleaning equipment, outdoor furniture etc.
The kid zone was a little smaller than anticipated, with interactive wii game demonstrations, and play-dough creature building, it did keep the kids busy for a while though.
I would also point out that whilst each cafeteria (three in total) offered a nice supply of food, there were not enough tables to accommodate the quantity of hungry attendees ready to refill, and recharge their batteries. We did however, find that seats were available at the back of some of the demonstrations, where we could rest and eat our lunch, at the same time learn a little DIY!
I would recommend Better Homes and Gardens LIVE for anyone with an interest in renovation, food, craft and gardening, however, I might suggest if possible, to leave the younger kids at home.
